The Online Book of Remembrance allows digital copies of the Book of Remembrance pages to be made available on any Internet connected computer or mobile device.
How does it work
The pages of the Book of Remembrance are scanned and loaded into our software. The pages can be scanned by Viewtouch or if you already have images provided by another supplier we can use these. Find out more: Book Scanning
Once we receive the pages of the Book of Remembrance as images we will index the images and configure our software to use these images.
Date Search
The service works by choosing a month to begin with, once a month is selected it will then show days of the month to select. The next page shows all pages for that date regardless of volume with no requirement of the user to try and determine what volume to choose. The user then clicks on a page to view which is then shown slightly enlarged and as a full page. The user can further increase the size of the page and move the page by simply clicking and dragging the page with their mouse.
Name Search
With the name search feature the user enters a surname and first name to search, upon clicking search a list of results is displayed showing all records containing the surname and first name. The user clicks on a record and the page is displayed. The user can further increase the size of the page and move the page by simply clicking and dragging the page with their mouse.
Card Search
Card search users a PIN number to access the service, this provides an opportunity to levy a charge for the service. Additional to viewing a particular entry in the Book of Remembrance the service also allows four tribute screens to be created and viewed alongside the Book of Remembrance page.
How often are the pages updated?
Usually four times a year for a three monthly set of Books or three times a year for a four monthly set of Books. However we can update the service quicker to suit your requirements.
