Is scanning safe?
Providing you use a reputable firm, such as Viewtouch, with the right equipment and expertise, even the scanning of ancient books is safe. Our investment in scanning technology extends to a book scanner – a dedicated piece of equipment that captures images and allows the software to straighten out the curvature of the page so you get a crystal-clear perspective. With its inherent geometrical correction, book scanning can overcome the effect of the crushing of characters and will preserve original distances. The process is successful without removing pages from the bindings or harming them in any way.
Where does scanning take place?
Our fast and direct door-to-door collection service avoids the pitfalls associated with using third-party couriers and ensures your documents arrive safely. The greatest care is taken with all material supplied to us, during transportation (which we will arrange), and in all the handling of books and documents.
The output of scanning
Once the pages of a book or documents are scanned, we can ‘tidy up’ the images, apply borders, etc., to give clean, legible pages which can then have Optical Character Recognition (OCR) applied to enable full text searching in PDF, HTML, XML or other format. Scanned images can be fully indexed to your requirements and are supplied as JPEG images or in Adobe Acrobat format.
